Obstetrics: Services We Provide at Plano Women’s Healthcare

One of the reasons our obstetrics team is considered one of the best in Texas is because of the services we provide. Here’s just a preview.

Obstetrics Plano TX

Preconception Counseling

The best way to help ensure a healthy pregnancy is to plan for it, which is why we offer preconception counseling services.

During a counseling session, you’ll meet with one of our doctors to discuss your health and potential factors (family history, medical conditions, lifestyle) that could effect your pregnancy.

Doing this will help you prepare for the birth and give you the information you need to make informed decisions about pregnancy, delivery, and beyond.

High-Risk Obstetric Care

We provide fetal anatomy ultrasounds, biophysical profiles, growth ultrasounds, and in-office fetal heart rate monitoring. Our team has a great reputation for helping women through high-risk pregnancies and deliveries, doing our best to ensure the health of both mom and baby.

In-Office Ultrasound

Plano Women’s Healthcare has on-site sonographers who have specialized training in obstetrics imaging. They help confirm pregnancies and help us monitor your baby’s health throughout the pregnancy.

Initial Pregnancy Visit

We will perform an ultrasound, exam, and general lab work at your first visit. Your history will be reviewed to help create a tailored obstetrics plan to keep you and your baby healthy.

Non-Invasive Genetic Testing Options

At your visit, your physician will discuss the options for non-invasive prenatal genetic testing with you. These tests use maternal blood to detect fetal DNA and can give information such as the sex of the baby and the risk of the baby having a chromosomal disorder such as Down syndrome. Your doctor will discuss this testing in detail at your first visit.

Vaginal and Cesarean
(C-Section) Deliveries

We will do all we can to help you have a safe vaginal delivery, though we are well-equipped to deliver babies via Cesarean if the need arises. We have a very high success rate achieving vaginal deliverieis (and vaginal birth after Cesarean), with low C-section rates.

Plano Women’s Healthcare is also a doula-friendly office. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible during your delivery, so if you have a doula to help, we welcome them!

Cord Blood Collection

The blood in the umbilical cord and placenta contains 10 times more stem cells than bone marrow. At delivery, we can collect and store some of the cord blood for future use for the health of your child. The stem cells can be used to treat certain immune system disorders, blood disorders (such as anemia), and even cancer. Stem cells from the umbilical cord are less likely to be rejected than adult stem cells. For more information, please visit: https://www.cordblood.com/
